This years harvest went swimmingly despite a very rainy summer which continued into September. We encountered minor shrinkage due to a turkey infestation but managed to harvest about 16 gallons from our vineyard and 6 gallons from our neighbors vineyard in between rain showers. Brix values might have suffered a bit due to the rain but the bunches had uniform ripeness so expectations have been set very high!

Notes
  • 5 day maceration (Sep 25 pressing)
  • Syrah at pressing: strong red cherry, nice tannin structure dry
  • DV 10 at pressing: red cherry, smooth, not as spicy as Syrah. Less complex than Syrah. Favorite at this point.
  • Rhône 4600 used to ferment 6 gallons of rose.
  • 2oz of medium plus oak per 8 gallons.

Tasting notes to come soon

December 26, 2018

Wine racked, tasted good but still noticeably young. Oak was pleasant and not overpowering.

DV10 received about half gallon top up of Syrah.

Syrah was topped up with last years syrah.
